Refined castor oil is yellow viscous liquid free from suspended matter and is insoluble in water. This form of pure castor oil is produced by refining commercial grade castor oil through the process of bleaching and filtering. Bleaching is performed to reduce the colour and carbon moisture content with the help of activated carbon and bleaching earth. The refining process removes excess impurities such as FFA, colloidal matter; phospholipids and refining also extend the storage life of castor oil. Simplification of the process makes it a natural castor oil for sensitive applications. It is suitable for the functional hydroxyl groups for the derivation of various chemicals used in the production of medicinal intermediates and as a lubricant it is furthermore used many applications.
